Departures (Japan, 2009)

Daigo Kobayashi, a cellist in Tokyo, loses his job when his orchestra is disbanded. He decides to move back to his hometown with his wife Mika. Back home, Daigo finds an advertisement in the newspaper for "assisting departures". He goes to the interview, uncertain of the job's nature. He is hired on the spot after only one question; ("Will you work hard?"). He discovers that the job involves preparing the dead.

An excellent moving drama, but not without it's fair share of humour. The boss is really likeble, and in my opinion the best character. Fun fact: the soundtrack is composed by Joe Hisaishi, the man who wrote the music for all Studio Ghibli-productions (that's a really good thing). Highly recommended.
