The story centers on Asuna, a girl who spends her solitary days listening to the mysterious music emanating from the crystal radio she received from her father as a memento. However, she embarks on a journey into a hidden world, and thus comes to know the cruelty and beauty of things, as well as loss.
Somewhat of a Studio Ghibli-ripoff, but still an absolute gem among anime films. Directed by Makoto Shinkai, who's done great films such as 5 Centimeters Per Second (2007) and Voices of a Distant Star (2002). This movie could easily be seen just for the animations alone, as they are insanely incredible. Every single frame is like a beautiful painting, especially the scenes with clouds. Yes, even the clouds makes you gasp. Probably the closest you'll get to Ghibli without it being an actual Ghibli, and that's one hell of a compliment.
Genre: Animation/Adventure
